Over the past few seasons, Kyrie Irving has been criticized by many for his political views and actions. Despite all this, he often pays unusually high sums for people in need. On Monday, it was revealed that the star donated $26,000 to help a patient in Ghana afford a life-saving kidney transplant.

The family of the young man who received the donation said: "This is a huge step on Andrews' path to recovery from end-stage kidney failure. We are still currently looking for a kidney donor and will keep you updated every step of Andrews' journey to a kidney transplant. Irving has an incredibly positive track record of using his money for good causes. Instead of launching big collaborations that generate good PR for him, Irving seems to regularly browse sites like GoFundMe to see who he can positively impact with a donation. He usually does this as an anonymous donation, but it is the website itself that publishes his name.
Over the past 12 months, Kyrie has donated $50,000 to a 16-year-old boy trying to get clean drinking water for people in her community, adding $40,000 to a 93-year-old woman sued by a developer to abandon her family home, $38,000 to cover funeral costs after the death of an Indian girl in North Texas, among many other donations, and a $25,000 donation to rebuild homes in Gaza. "There are so many bad things going on in our world, I just try to do little acts of kindness every day," Irving said.
